Ringhals outages 2011
This year’s outages in the nuclear power reactors is now underway. The following activities are planned to be performed during Ringhals outages 2011:
Ringhals 1
25 September – 8 November- Replacement of low pressure turbines at TG11 (ROTEX)
- Continued replacement of safety switchgear (BASS). This year, the standby diesel system (DHC switchgear) will be replaced on one of the electricity sides
- Environmental qualifications of cabling to be concluded (MILK)
The outage is estimated to take approx. 44 days.
Ringhals 2
1 April – 18 November
- Replacement of electrically powered auxiliary feed water pumps. The replacement of the pumps means that the unit can again operate at 100% power after the outage
- Overhaul of backup diesel units, DG220 and DG230
- Measures taken after control room exchange in the TWICE project, for instance new software load of the Ovation operator system.
- Relining of pipes in the 715 salt water system
- New shaft glands for charging pump 1 in system 334 (chemical volume and control System.
The outage was estimated to take 39 days, but has been prolonged due to clean up activities after a fire event.
Ringhals 3
5 November – 5 December (previously planned 1-31 October)
- Replacement of check valves in system 323 (safety injection system)
- Connecting the diversified protection system (DPS) that was prepared at last year’s outage.
- Preparations in the outlet pool for concrete work in the coming years at the condenser outlet sockets
- Reactor cooling pump replacement
- 130 kV starting transformer (T93) replacement
- Internal inspection of the diesel oil storage tank
The outage is estimated to take approx. 30 days.
Ringhals 4
31 May – 31 October
Three major projects will be implemented:
- FREJ: Replacement of steam generators and pressurizer
- TURBO: Refurbishment of high pressure turbines, replacement of four main steam reheaters, installation of two new low pressure preheaters, refurbishment of main feed water pumps etc.
- NICE: Modernisation of turbine protection and control systems
Much of the work this year will have to be carried out in both relay rooms which requires proper planning.
The Quattro project manages the hot testing period that is undertaken after the conclusion of the projects.
Other major tasks:
- Repair of damaged concrete in essential service water intake canal and pump sumps
- Replacement of the exterior sheeting on the turbine building
This year’s outage is extensive and was originally estimated to run for about 100 days. Delays in the piping installations has prolonged the outage.
