Extensive piping installations at R4
The date for the planned restart of Ringhals 4 has been deferred from 8 September to 2 October. This is due to delays in the piping installations on both the reactor and turbine sides.

“We knew that this would be a complex outage, but unfortunately it became apparent during the work that the pipeline installations were taking more time than planned”, says Göran Molin, Plant manager Ringhals 3 and 4.
The replacement of all the large components – steam generators, pressurizers, high-pressure turbines, reheaters and low pressure preheaters – has gone well, but the large volume of pipeline jobs needed to connect the components is time-intensive. The extent of the work had been underestimated and the suppliers did not have enough workforce capacity and material on site to keep to the original schedule.
Several measures has been taken to correct the situation. First and foremost the workforce capacity was increased, the work management was reinforced and the follow-up of progress was made more intensive.
